If there are cold sores on your lips, it is necessary to use a disposable surgical mask or a gauze bandage, during taking care of a child.
Until the sores become dry. When you have herpes on our lips, don’t kiss or smell the baby. If herpes has affected any other area of your body, it must be well closed and should not contact with a baby.

For putting antiviral ointments on the places affected by herpes (Acycloire, Zovirax) use special cosmetic sticks, like shown on the picture. Drawing ointments to the center of affected area directly with fingers can cause a transferring herpes from lips to fingers, what is highly undesirable.

- Creams and ointments on the basis of acyclovyre must be used not less than 4-5 times a day.
- If cold sores don’t disappear within ten days, you should visit a dermatologist, because a cold on lips may be a symptom of some other serious disease, that needs special treatment.
- Long lasting cold on lips (more than 30 days) may be caused by reduction in immunity oncological disease or HIV/AIDS.
